Craig Broeder has been biking cross country since April. He passed through the Port City Tuesday on his way to Myrtle Beach. His goal: biking 9,000 miles in 100 days to get one million people to donate a dollar for ovarian cancer research.

"It's a psychological struggle but cancer is much worst. So my goal was to pick something that was hard, something I wasn't sure I could do and mimic the suffering that someone has with cancer,” said Broeder. “Somebody knows that a Joe Average could take on something beyond their ability and still get through it."

Broeder's trip comes after his wife was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and survived. He began biking in Arizona and will return there by August 25th.
