BRUNSWICK COUNTY -- The woman dubbed the "Black Widow" will face federal charges. Authorities call Sandra Bridewell the "Black Widow" due to her suspected involvement in the deaths of two of her husbands in the 1980s. She was never charged in connection with those deaths. The latest charges are related to Bridewell's possible involvement in the defrauding of a 77-year-old Brunswick County resident. According to the victim, Bridewell impersonated a missionary in order to use her credit cards and checks without her consent. Bridewell faces charges of financial card theft, one count of forgery and one count of obtaining property under false pretense. If convicted, Bridewell could spend more than 20 years in prison.
