ELIZABETHTOWN, NC (WWAY) -- The animal shelter in Bladen County is making it easier for you to adopt a pet during the holidays.
The shelter is waiving the $25 adoption fee starting Monday. The deal continues through New Year's Eve. New pet owners will only have to pay $10 for the mandatory rabies shot.
The shelter is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday 1-5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m.-noon.

You would think they know better then to waive a adoption fee at this time of year. Why can't they do this some other time durning the year? Because its true fast why to give a poor homeless animal a home only to be mistreated, not wanted and tied out in the back yard. There are many more days in the year beside a holiday.
Giving pets away - really bad idea
Hasn't Bladen County heard that it is NEVER a good idea to give pets away? And especially right at the holidays. It will create impulse adoptions which won't be in the best interest of the animals. I hope county officials track how many show back up later...and how many come back pregnant or with 10 pups in tow.
