The Bladen County Animal Shelter will no longer use it's gas chamber. In July, the state changed the guidelines for animal euthanasia. Under the new rules the county would have had to pay to have the chamber inspected. Instead, the shelter decided to give up the gas chamber all together. Bladen County health director Wayne Stewart said the county has been moving towards lethal injection. The shelter has not used it's gas chamber since August.
