CLASS IS BACK IN SESSION...

I was talking to colleagues recently about the Atlantic Hurricane Season. We were discussing how quickly the year has gone by. After all, August is here already! Then it occurred to me that I had not written an update in my blog since winter. During the "down time", I've been working on a new project that involves our local students.

When visiting schools, I'm always amazed by the intelligent questions asked by students. From cumulus to coriolis, kids today posses an extremely high "weather IQ". In fact, we've decided to share some of the students' enthusiasm with our viewers. WWAY has started a new series called "Atmosphere Academy".

Each Monday in our newscasts, we'll visit with students from area schools. They'll get a chance to ask the meteorologist a weather-related question, and the meteorologist will answer the question on-air! It's a great way to showcase our schools, and learn a little about meteorology in the process. So tune-in each Monday on Good Morning Carolina or WWAY News Channel 3 at 5PM. You just might learn something!

Teachers- if you want your students to appear in a segment of Atmosphere Academy, just send me an email at jjackson@wwaytv3.com and I'll explain the process. I look forward to hearing from you!
