Leave My Wallet Alone

Thank you Wilmington City Council and thank you New Hanover County Commission.
When confronted with financial shortfalls, they didn’t reach into my pocket.
I really appreciated that, because on the same day the county passed its budget I received a notice from my mortgage company stating that my house payments were going up by 150-dollars a month.
That major increase in homeowners insurance rates is kicking in and my escrow payments are rising accordingly.
It hurts.
I sure am glad we don’t have property tax increases to throw in on top of that.
Mrs. Rondinaro and I are constantly looking for ways to trim that monthly outlay for bills.
That’s just the way it is these days.
I commend our local leaders for taking that same approach even though they had a blank checkbook standing by…. us.
Rather than shake the last dollars out of our wallets they’ve tightened their belts and found a way to live within their diminishing means.
Now if we could only convince Raleigh and Washington to do the same thing.
