FULL STEAM AHEAD...

It's hard to believe that winter is almost over. At home, I think we still have a box of candy canes sitting in our kitchen (right beside the chocolate Easter eggs). It seems that everyone is getting ready for spring. In fact, the atmosphere has already caught a bit of "spring fever".

Our normal daytime high for February is about 59 degrees. Our high temperature in Wilmington has been significantly warmer this year, reaching the 70's at least 8 times. In fact, some surrounding counties reached the 80's earlier in the month. Unusual, but not unprecedented.

There are many examples of above-normal winter temperatures during the past century. February temperatures climbed well into the 80's on several days during the 1950's. The all-time record for the month is 85 degrees, set all the way back in 1899!

Regardless of your comfort level, enjoy these last few days of winter. Before long, allergy season will be kicking in-- and we know how fun that can be...
