Body found in Cape Fear River

Police are working to determine whether a body found this afternoon in the Cape Fear River is that of Brent Henry. Witnesses say they saw Henry jump off the Thomas Rhodes Bridge on Wednesday. Personnel aboard the North Carolina State Port police boat spotted the body, near the dock in front of the federal courthouse on Water Street. New Hanover County Sheriff's detectives are continuing the investigation.

Hello WWAY3 this is Miya Henry Brent Mc.Kinley Henry's daughter I do not exactly have any information about my dad's death but I do know what cause him to do what he did.Heres the secret I can't hide anymore a few weeks before my dad died me and my mom tried to avoid him by not excepting his calls the reason why we avoided him was because he just kept calling so much and we were tierd of it.But anyways before we avoided him my mom and dad had been divorced I think 5 years ago and my dad really still loved her but my mom didn't know but the reason why my dad did what he did was because he thought my mom didn't care about him loving her.I guess my dad was love sick.I just wish he understood that my mom didn't really know how much she loved him until he died(my brother cared a lot about my dad even though it was only my dad)Also I just want to ask one question did my dad have any scratches or wounds on his body when they found him?Please don't share my personal comment with the world on the news.

My uncle made the same fatal

My uncle made the same fatal decision in July 1992. The really bad thing is that people passing by saw him as he was anticipating his jump. His car was parked at the foot of the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge on the side coming from Leland. I have often wondered why no one stopped. His body was later found by the two gentlemen that were working for Waste Industries. My heart goes out to the family of this gentleman

i dont know this man but... im 17 and live with my parents in leland. I think about this man a lot and wishes God to send his angels for him. God bless everyone. what a tragedy

My heart aches for his daughter and all his loved ones! I can say 1st hand Brent was a good Father and spent quality time with his daughter. Brent knows and Gods knows what went on during his time upon that bridge and in the water. It's not up to the ones of us left to judge. Let's use our time to pray and stay strong for the ones he left behind. Often times we can get caught up too much in the why's & what's when we need to be focusing on praying and being positive! Please, please each of you reading these comments lift up his daughter in prayer and all his loved ones. Brent we will always remember you! You can count on me and our families in regard to helping take of our dear sweet Myia! Judy

MY HEARTFELT SORROW GOES TO MY LITTLE COUSIN AS SHE GRIEVES FOR THE LOST OF HER FATHER. WE WILL NEVER KNOW WHAT MADE HIM DO THIS BUT MAY HE FIND THE PEACE HE WAS SEEKING. I DO KNOW HE LOVED HIS DAUGHTER AND THAT HE WAS NOT IN HIS RIGHT MIND TO HAVE DONE THIS.I JUST ASK ALL THAT KNOW THE WORD OF PRAYER TO PRAY FOR HIS DAUGHTER'S STRENGHTH AT THIS TIME AND FOR THE FUTURE.

i don't understand this. no one has said how they know it is brent. i would like to know more on this b/c i went to school with him. why did he jump? was there a note? a car? was he just jumping to swim? what?

Earlier it was reported they found his car parked near the gun range.There has been no mention of a note.

well i know earlier on that they did say his car was found parked on the side of the road right in front of that police shooting range just before the bridge. but i think for now that is all that has really been said. hopefully they find out some more information. and i doubt that he was just jumping in to swim, that bridge is high, and there are gators and very fast moving water at times, so i highly doubt it was just for a swim. but who knows

The man was identified Thursday as Currie resident Brent M. Henry, 35, according to the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office.
