Bomb threat causes New Hanover County Courthouse to be evacuated

A bomb threat prompted the New Hanover County Courthouse to be evacuated Monday. The threat was called into the 911 center from a payphone at 902 Rankin Street at 11:52 a.m. The courthouse was evacuated while authorities performed a visual search, but did not find anything. Everyone was let back in about an hour later. "At first I didn't know what was going on, and we were looking from outside the glass and saw they weren't letting anybody in so we knew it was kind of serious and kind of glad they sent us out," said Tyrone Dantley. Authorities are looking for the man who made the call, described by a witness as a white male with sandy blonde hair, wearing a red or orange shirt, khaki shorts and a white ball cap.
