Boseman misses foreclosure hearing

A ruling Wednesday on one of state Senator Julia Boseman's property foreclosures took place. Boseman owes more than $350,000 in unpaid loans and fees on the property at 5917 Oleander Drive. That location once housed her law practice. The court ruled that the property will be auctioned off on December 9th. Boseman did not appear at Wednesday's hearing. The Senator and real estate attorney still has other properties in foreclosure. A spokesman for her campaign said the foreclosures are fallout from Boseman's recent financial problems stemming from the break-up with her former domestic partner.

How did this woman get re-elected?

Money was mismanaged in Thomas Wright's case, but this is also mismanagement, maybe not criminal, but very tangled up. So he gets the hook and she gets re-elected? No wonder black people think whites get away with everything. I'd venture to say, however, that a lot of them voted for her on a straight ticket. But a lot of people also had to have voted straight out for her. So, it's a flip flop mentality around these parts, take that however.

1. GLBTQ voters. 2. Any voter even loosely associated with the studio and film production. 3. Lazy, straight party-line voters who didn't bother to research how inept and sleazy she is. In the case of the first two groups, the media could have shown Boseman mainlining heroin and throwing babies off tall buildings - they would have voted for her anyway.

I am a gay voter, and I could not bring myself to vote for Boseman. I place a higher value on ethical conduct.

I also have a business acquaintance who refused to vote for her, as did her partner. They call her The Drama Queen and fear that her train-wreck of a life is causing far more danage to the Lesbian community than any good she could possibly do in Raleigh. The sad fact is, however, that most in the local gay and Lesbian community did vote for her.

bring the race card in? Race has nothing to do with it. Mr. Wright was convicted of forging loan documents and using his position to influence a loan for a venture in which he had an interest. He was convicted of converting campaign funds for his personal use. Ms. Boseman has not been accussed of those issues. So far, there have been no confirmed allegations she misappropriated campaign funds. How was she re-elected? read the media reports. But for sure and certain, Race had nothing to do with it.

Boseman and New Hanover Dems

I'm not sure which is sadder, that my Party supports someone with so little regard for the law, racial equality and human decency OR that so many New Hanover County Dems (not me among them) sacrificed our best chance to end the Titan Cement project in Castle Hayne with a "straight ticket" strategy that got Julia in by a squeak but ended any chance to do something about Titan. I put the environment first and voted for Berger, the only one who was going to fight Titan, and Barfield, a fellow Dem. I was told to vote for Barfield, only. Wake up, people! You get what you deserve: more corruption and Titan. That's what we voted for because we put party before country and community.

failed to appear at the hearing, and the Bank's attorney did not request a postponement, the property is likely going to sale. Perhaps she realizes her bigger challenge, the one which could bring her before the bar of justice, is in Brunswick County.

Boseman did not appear at Wednesday's hearing. This was the edited quote. The full quote probably said "Boseman did not appear at Wednesday's hearing. Boseman had taken a bong hit about 1 hour prior to the meeting and forgot all about the problems in her world" Well Julia, I live in your world and I would appreciate it if you would try to focus on fixing your issues so that since you were elected again you could at some point begin to work on all of our's.

Why do your reporters let her spokesperson get away with saying that? Why not ask why Melissa Jarrell's name is not on any of these deeds or mortgages, nor has it ever been? There are actually people that believe the hogwash that Boseman is shoveling, and you're letting your station be a conduit when you let statements like that go unchallenged!

Too bad that Boseman has financial problems. To blame them on her former domestic partner is really stupid. SHE was supposedly a lawyer and supposed to be a good one, so why has she not managed her money any better. This is something happens to a lot of people everyday and is not as common anymore. It is an unfortunate situation to have happen to anyone but what makes it so newsworthy is beyond me. Must be a slow newsday somewhere SO her properties get sold, the bank gets a portion of it's money and she goes away. What is next?

Irresponsibility, bad money management, and lack of concern over this issue as well as the people she has done wrong. Yeah, no big deal. Except that she is an elected official. True no one is perfect, and times are tough. However when you step up to the plate and say hey, I want to represent the people, it is basically implied that you are to obey laws and procedures. Well, that is how its supposed to be. I think you may be downplaying the responsibility issue here. As far as this piece being newsworthy - this is Wilmington and it’s here amongst the groundbreaking journalism of "Kitchen Cops" and "What’s Going on November 14-16." I'd say that this ongoing issue is substantially more important than a moldy onion at the Scotchman.

Why would one come to a news station's website, make a comment on a story provided to you, and then proceed to make a poor attempt at ridiculing the station? Many people read the station's Whats Happening and Kitchen Cop. If you don't enjoy them, why not take the mouse out of your hand and stop visiting the site.

She's not going anywhere, except to Raleigh, to work on a STATE BUDGET. You tell me if you want someone who is totally inept at finances deciding how much to tax you and how to spend those taxes.

interesting to watch. There should be 2 notices in the paper prior to th sale on the Courthouse steps. If the sale occues on 12/9 as reported, the 10 day upset period will be over on or about 12/20.
