Kids in costumes got a special treat today: a safety lesson. The North Carolina Division of Public Health brought the Blood Alcohol Testing bus, more popularly known as the BAT mobile, to the Community Boys and Girls Club in Wilmington. Batman himself stopped in and got the kids all riled up. Kids learned the importance of buckling up by testing out the Seatbelt Convincer Machine. They also toured the BAT mobile to learn about drinking and driving. "What we're hoping to get across to them is drinking and driving kills and there are consequences for every action they take,” said Ken Rhodes of the North Carolina Forensic Tests for Alcohol. “We talked to them about getting in vehicles with people who have been drinking or getting behind the wheel while they've been drinking and driving and the consequences of it." The BAT mobile will be out and about at a DUI check point Friday night to test drivers' blood alcohol content.
