The Mobile Evacuation Bus is Brunswick County's new tool to assist in emergencies. It has room to transport 20 patients on a stretcher and 10 wheelchair patients. It can be easily reconfigured to transport up to 30 wheelchairs or used as a rehabilitation unit at major fire and rescue scenes. Emergency services officials say it will be invaluable in helping special needs residents. The bus is one of just a few in the state. It rolled into town Friday, and will be tested in an exercise July 11th.

Grant

I think this was purchased with grant money. That is fine, but remember now we have to maintain the upkeep etc. I would agree that funds could be better used in other places such as rescue and EMS. We have some serious issues within the EMS department that no one seems to want to uncover and address. I can only hope that sometime, the ES department would be brought under control and properly managed. And one more thing, why has so many ES employees have take home vehicles? I would think only the ES and EMS director should have take home and the on call EM person. Anyway, more tax payer dollars up in smoke. One day, one day, will this all get addressed.

Just wondering

I was just wondering if this unit is going to sit like that incident command bus does out back of the EOC? With regard to public safety, I think money could have been better utilized for improvement on fire, rescue, and EMS equipment. Folks in Ash are still waiting up to 30 minutes for just an ambulance.

WELL I GUESS THAT COMMENT IS

WELL I GUESS THAT COMMENT IS CORRECT UP ABOVE. DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE FIRE AND RESCUE WOULD NOT EXCEPT GOOD EMT IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD THAT COULD HAVE A AMBULANCE THERE IN JUST A MATTER OF A FEW MIN . SO REALLY PEOPLE IN ASH DONT NEED TO PASS JUDGEMENT ON HOW THE COUNTY SPENDS THERE MONEY . THINK ABOUT YOUR OWN BACK DOORS FIRST

Not sure that this was paid

Not sure that this was paid for with county funds.

COUNTY

YOU ARE RIGHT IT WAS GOTTEN WITH A GRANT. BUT THE COUNTY PUTS OUT A LOT OF MONEY TO OTHER FIRE AND RESCUES. THAT THEY NEED TO KEEP TO HELP IN OTHER WAYS WITH COUNTY . SOME DO NOT DESEVER THE HELP WITH FUNDS COMING FROM COUNTY FIRE DUES BECAUSE THEY ARE SOME OF THE DEPARTMENTS THAT COME TO AID TH ONES IN TROUBLE AND NEVER EVEN GET A THANK YOU JUST PUT DOWN FOR LEANING A HELPING HAND HOW SAD IS THAT
