BRUNSWICK COUNTY -- Brunswick Community College has a new plan to make college more affordable. It's a fundraising event modeled after a popular ABC reality show.

The event is called "Dancing with the Brunswick County Stars."

The money raised will help some students in need pay their college tuition.

The stars were announced inside Odell Williams Auditorium. Twenty-two community leaders will put on their dancing shoes in the name of scholarship, just like the hit TV show.

A few of those participating include Superior Court Judge Ola Lewis, District Attorney Rex Gore and school Superintendent Katie McGee. Each dancer will be partnered with a professional dancer.

The event takes place at the sea trail conference center on August 1. Tickets will go on sale April 15 at Brunswick Community College. Prices will be announced Thursday.

Dancing With Brunwick County Stars

Katie McGee needs to spend her "dancing" time tending to the business of the Brunswick County Schools rather than showing off in front of people. With the mess this school system is in, she could spend that valuable time getting the mess staightened out!

Dancing with the Stars

What a great idea!

Stepping Up & Stepping Out

Brunswick County Star Pastor Rich Vaughan of Camp United Methodist Church in Shallotte, NC and professional dance instructor Jana Sanders of Brunswick School of Dance in Supply, NC “stepping out” in preparation for The Event of the summer.
