Brunswick County to get new parks

BRUNSWICK COUNTY -- There will soon be a few more ways to get outdoors in Brunswick County. The county is getting several new parks after receiving over a half million dollars in grants from the department of environmental and natural resources. The money will help build canoe and kayaking ramps for the Brunswick Nature Park and the Whitlock landing access site. The county's parks and recreation director says the parks will make Brunswick County an even better place to live. Parks and Recreation Director George Page said, "Not only will our residents enjoy access points for canoes and kayaks and environmental education for everyone in Brunswick County, the residence will also enjoy over 925 acres of open parkland for passive use." Construction will begin early in 2008. There will be a town meeting on the park's design Thursday night at six p.m. at the Town Creek Community Building.
