Brunswick County is raising awareness about recycling.

All county schools officially now have recycling programs. That means all the plastic bottles and cans that students used to throw away, will now be recycled into a new material.

Brunswick County officials say old plastic bottles can be used to make things like fleece, and carpet.

"Recycling is important because it saves our natural resources. Also during times like these, it helps create jobs. It produces material, gets exported, and made into new material,” explained Stephanie Lewis of Brunswick County operations.

Recycling experts were on hand today at the Brunswick County Government Complex to answer people's questions.
