Business convention thinking "green"

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) -- It was a packed house for the first Emerging Green Business Conference today at Wrightsville Beach. WWAY is a proud sponsor of the conference. WWAY's own Greg Privett was there to introduce keynote speaker Eric Loewen of GE Hitachi's advanced technology center in Castle Hayne.

Loewen talked about taking nuclear waste and turning it into energy. The conference highlighted how local businesses can plug into green industries. Plenty of people were there to get in on the green.

"We had a full crowd today I think we had much more than we we expected it was a great turnout and we are really pleased with it," said Tyler Newman of the Wilmington Cape Fear Homebuilders Association. "I think we have done extremely well for a first year and it's all thanks to our partners and our sponsors that we've been able to get folks here," Newman said.

Organizers say they hope they can turn this into a yearly event.
