A local eatery spiced things up this Election Day. Taylor's Cafe in Southport offered up Obama burgers and McCain grinders as part of their special menu. It was Walter Taylor's idea to take his good friend, Larry Bogue, out to lunch on Election Day. But what Walter did not tell Larry was that he had to cast his vote, again. ”I knew what was on the menu, and I wanted my good friend to try it out," said Taylor. Bogue did not seem to mind that politically there were on different sides. "This is my good friend Walter. I believe he is voting the other way, but that's OK because we are good friends." Walter ordered an Obama burger while Larry ordered a McCain grinder. The Obama burger is a blackened patty with crumbled blue cheese and sweet potato fries. The McCain grinder is filled with roast beef and Swiss cheese, served with homemade chips. "Everyone that comes is like oh that is so cute, and liked the fact that we didn't pick one over the other, so we are giving everyone the opportunity to express their candidates," said Karen Taylor, owner of the café. For people who want to enjoy lunch at Taylor's, but don't want to pick a side, they can choose the Voter's salad. It is red, white, and blue in color and workers here say it has been the most popular of the day.
