Candidate Introduction

Brunswick county Republicans introduced their 2008 candidates to citizens today. Candidates running for every office from Congress, to Governor to the County Board of Education attended the meeting at the brunswick county republican headquarters in Bolivia. They passed out information and spoke to the small crowd that attended. Gubernatorial candidate Fred Smith said it's important people know their representatives. "I would ask that people get involved, find out who the candidates are," Smith said. "I think when we have an involved citizenry who checks the candidates out, checks the issues out, then we'll make the right decision as a state." Smith hopes to replace current Governor Mike Easley, who's term will be up at the end of this year.
