Almost 350 dogs walked at Halyburton Park for the Canine Relay for Life. Participating dogs wore bandannas to show their support for the cause. The top twelve money-raising pups will be featured in a calendar. Cancer survivors and supporters say they were happy to walk with those who show them unconditional support. “Every day, the days when you think about it, your dog's there and so it's kind of like everything's okay,” said cancer survivor Midge Galloway. Relay for Life supporter Melissa Singhisen added, “It makes you feel really good that this many people and the support, and trying to find resolutions so that hopefully in the future we won't even have cancer.” So far organizers say the event raised more than $16,000 to support cancer research. They will continue to collect money until the standard Relay for Life on April 24th. That event will take place at Ashley High School.
