Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity to build three homes in one week

Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity will join with six local builders for the Building Blitz. Their goal is to make the dream of home ownership happen for three deserving families. The local chapter has been planning the blitz for more than a year now. Dozens of volunteers will be needed to pull off the three home build. "There aren't any other builders who are doing this in one week," Habitat for Humanity executive director Barbara Birkenheuer said. "Our homeowners do purchase their homes. They are not given to them. This isn't a hand out, this is a hand up. We are very excited about watching this develop." The ground breaking for the Building Blitz starts Friday at noon.

As a regular volunteer with Habitat it is interesting to see the "pros" build a house. It takes us a lot longer than 1 week to build one. CAW
