Bridge repairs

When I lived in Florida they worked on the Jacksonville bridge during the graveyard shift only & didn't interrupt the day/evening traffic. Why can't NHC do that? Might save a lot of headaches & stress & time especially for the drivers cause it could take some folks 2-3hours to get over the bridge (according to when you drive over) Have to leave home at 5:30am to arrive at work by 8am if there's not an accident, which happens every day. Please DOT think of the citizens who have to travel the bridges especially now that it's tourist season. I lived here when the CF bridge was approved & ya'll were advised it may not be the best option.

What happened to the Skyline Bridge?

I still don't understand why they keep approving all construction is Brunswick County but are paying no attention to our roads and bridges. We have one of the highest gas taxes in the country but yet some of the worst roads and bridges. So where is the money going that we are all spending at the pump?

I totally agree, we pay more

I totally agree, we pay more than double gas taxes than some other states in the South...so where is our money really going? I'm from Columbus County and when I left there five years ago, an unbelievable amount of roads were still dirt. Now I'm here in Wilm, even though most of the roads here are paved, I have to worry about bridges that are in so bad of condition that I'm nervous when I drive over them. So What is the state doing with the money we pay on gas taxes? I know from experience that our neighboring states have much cheaper gas taxes and much better roads. There's something wrong with this picture!!!

Build a new one and knock

Build a new one and knock down the Soviet Union style bridge. I feel like I am in Russia from 1955.
