WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- All aboard! The Cape Fear Railroad Society kicked off their holiday train expo Monday night.

Train lovers and makers showcased their work at Hanover Center Shopping Village at the corner of Oleander and Independence. The event is in the large warehouse directly behind Steinmart.

Holiday village scenes and trains of all sizes were put on display and put smiles on kid's faces. There's about $50,000 dollars worth of trains and 11 miles worth of train tracks at the expo. Organizers say it's a fun time for everyone.

"They bring them all together so everyone can enjoy them during this particular time," said organizer Farrell Teague. "Whether you're 2 or 102 you just get all excited and you see smiling faces. Everybody is just overwhelmed and that's the joy of it for us."
