Saturday marked the return of the Cape Fear Roller Girls to the Schwartz Center in downtown Wilmington.
The scoring system in roller derby is a bit confusing. "We have two jammers that start behind the pack. Once the pack gets going, the two jammers have to actually to work their way through the pack the first time… that frees them up to score points,” explained Lou Botomy, the announcer.
Saturday night's match featured the Cape Fear Roller Girls and their black uniforms against the Carolina Rollergirls from Raleigh.
Janet Price never played roller derby when she was younger, but she claims she's Cape Fear's biggest fan. "I love roller derby!” she said.
Cape Fear ended up with a 104 -81 victory which sparked quite a celebration.
The Cape Fear Rollergirls’ next home game will be against Philadelphia at the Schwartz Center on July 11th.

They wouldn't be where they're at without that coach. I've never seen such defensive tactics. That guy is good.
