Carolina Beach Shuttle ready to roll

Owners of the new Carolina Beach Shuttle say it will be ready to roll later this week, just in time for Pleasure Island's big Independence Day celebration. The shuttle will provide service from Monkey Junction to Carolina Beach. It was supposed to open last week, but there was a problem with the air conditioning. The owners say it's now fixed, so the shuttle will be up and running Thursday.

"It was supposed to open last week, but there was a problem with the air conditioning." They have'nt even got started and they have problems.

Carolina Beach Shuttle

The news assumed that the A/C was the reason we didn't start. The town of Carolina Beach didn't get our permit ready for us to start last Thursday or we would have started as we planned. You can't make government work any faster than they want to work. The A/C on one of our buses still isn't fixed but we started on the 3rd with another vehicle like we said we would. Austin and Sons has been jerking us around for two weeks with this A/C problem. I have paid them over 1000.00 and went and found parts myself and it still isn't working properly.

Interesting Project

This new shuttle service will be an interesting study on several levels. First, it will show if high gas prices and crowded beach conditions will finally push travelers into public transportation. And second, will this beach shuttle give new evaluation to Wave Transit?

Bus Rider

I ride Wave Transit all the time to get where I need to go. I find it amusing that those who don't even ride feel the need to say maybe this will "evaluate" Wave Transit. Unfortunately, the bottom line is that public transportation is so heavily subsidized. Wave can only provide routes for which they are given funding. End of Story. Perhaps a better way to put this would be to ask if this shuttle will give an evaluation of the County Commissioners who consistently are not supportive of public transportation.
