Cause of fire remains unknown

OCEAN ISLE BEACH -- It's been two days since a deadly house fire in ocean isle beach that killed seven college students. There are still many questions surrounding what happened. From the back of the house you get a better idea of just how bad the damage is. Really, all that's left right now is the skeletal frame of the house. There's a lot of speculation right now as to how the fire started. We've heard that there was a pizza left in the oven, a grill on the back deck, but so far there has been no official cause released by investigators. The mayor of Ocean Isle Beach says the fire started on the deck. Officials say smoke alarms in the house were working when the fire started early Sunday morning, but one survivor says he never heard the alarms. Some students who watched the house go up in flames say what they heard was screaming. Since the fire Sunday members of the community have shown their support for people affected by the tragedy. Buttons were made for Ocean Isle Beach firefighters by a young girl and boy from Bladenboro who wanted to show the firefighters they were appreciated. The Brunswick County emergency manager says it could be Friday before autopsy results are released, and investigators are able to determine how the fire started.

Very sad!

I live on ocean Isle Beach, but the west end so all we knew sunday morning was that there was fire trucks going out like crazy. It wasnt until church that day did we find out what had happend and that there was loss of life. It is a tragedy but I am a VERY firm believer that everything happens for a reason! God calls you home when it is your time to go and your work is done here. My support and prayers go out the ones that are affected by this sad situation but always remember people, god knows what he's doing. They say some were even still in bed when the fire was at its peek, so atleast not everyone sufferd! I think that would be a horrible way to die, but if it ment that I was going to a place where I would never feel pain again then I would just have to face the hard balls that were thrown at me in this lifetime. I am very sorry, I know praying and knowing that these young, successful, and beautiful people are in a better place now doesnt help the pain that you will feel. But it doesnt really matter how the fire already happend and we can't prevent it now. Lets come together not only as a community, but as a nation and show support for the lives lost in the hurricans, fires, and in the war. All we need is a hand to hold and a god to take away your pain! GOD BLESS YOU ALL for your losses, and it can only go up from here! Lots of love!!

Ocean Isle Fire

I live at Ocean Isle Beach. My prayers and thoughts are with all of the families of the children that were involved in this terrible fire. We all were in college once upon a time, and drinking and partying are a part of growing up and being in college. This could have happened to me or to my child. The kids that died were good children and were on their way to a successful life. I know that God has found a very special place for them in heaven. May God grant peace to all of the children that survived. You must go on with your life and pursue happiness and success. You survived for a reason.
