Center to unveil plan to house Charlotte homeless

READ MORE:
CHARLOTTE -- The Urban Ministry Center wants the city of Charlotte to change how the state's largest city deals with the chronically homeless. The Charlotte Observer reported that center will unveil a $10 million project that includes apartments for up to 85 of the city's most troubled homeless people and training needed to build a life. Moore Place will be based on similar programs in a half dozen cities that who that it's cheaper to house the chronically homeless than to continue paying for their frequent trips to jail or the emergency room. Center officials say that from that perspective alone, the project could save the city an estimated $2 million in its first year. Land has been purchased and the apartments are set for completion in late 2010. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)

Well, I've decided to give

Well, I've decided to give up. With gov't spending out of control & taxes sure to rise, every bum too lazy to work standing around with their hands out, and me working two jobs and trying to get ahead, well, why? So I cut back my hours on my full time job, quit my part time job, had a huge yard sale & got rid of most of what I don't need, and am cutting back to the bare bones. Instead of living large & supporting the lazy I'll become the lazy and do just enough to get by. Gives me a lot more time for day-dreaming and walks in the park. Thanks modern day Amerika, I'm finally waking up to what's important.

Why spend ANY money on them?

The trips to jail are already paid for - the citizens have to pay for the jail, they have to pay for the police. That cost is there even if you do blow $10 million on apartments for bums. Here's an idea - why not let these people be responsible for managing their own lives? Why not let them live their lives the way they want to, and if they overdose in the gutter or freeze to death under a bridge, well, they wrote their own screenplay. If the movies weren't very good or ended too soon, they had no one but themselves to blame. How long can the productive, working taxpayers keep supporting people who won't carry their own load because of their irresponsible lifestyles, be it substance abuse, out-of-control breeding, or simple laziness?
