Cape Fear Community College students aren't blushing over their latest award. Over the weekend, Cape Fear cosmetology students earned the top spot at the salon professionals’ competition. The Association of Cosmetology event was held in Myrtle Beach. Students won eleven awards for hair styling, makeup, and manicuring as well as the overall team trophy for the second year in a row. “Last year was the first year that we won school of the year. That was the first time the traveling trophy ever left the state of South Carolina. So we had to return the trophy on Saturday, but it came back home to Cape Fear,” said Shigeta Judge, CFCC lead cosmetology instructor. This was Judge's first year as lead instructor. She said she entered the team in the competition to get the students out of the classroom and show them the world of cosmetology.
