Hoggard rolled in round two of the NCHSAA Volleyball Playoffs with a convincing 3-0 win over Richmond Senior. The Vikes have yet to lose a game in either of their playoff wins.
In round three, Hoggard will travel to Greenville on Thursday to take on Rose. Hoggard will certainly have their hands full. Rose has not lost a match at home all season and after throttling Pinecrest (25-11, 25-16, 25-18) in round two, the Rampants enter the contest with a 23-1 record.
The teams have faced each other twice already this season; Rose came away with 3-0 wins in both matches (25-17, 25-18, 25-18 on September 3 and 25-17, 25-21, 25-18 on October 4).
Rose enters the match as the third ranked team in the state according to maxpreps.com.

Boys' Soccer
White Oak didn't treat visiting Laney too kindly, sending the Bucs back to Wilmington with a 2-0 defeat on Tuesday. Laney dipped to 6-13 with the loss and the Bucs wrap up the season on Thursday when they host Ashley. The Screaming Eagles are coming in off a 3-0 Tuesday win over Topsail (12-5 overall). Ashley (12-4-3, 6-4-1) needs the win to lock up a third place finish in the league standings.

New Hanover improved to 10-1 in the league, clinching at least a share of the Mideastern title with a 7-1 victory over West Brunswick. The Wildcats, 18-2 overall, remained at #3 in the state's 4A Coaches' Poll this week and will wrap up the season Thursday when they host Hoggard (8-6-3, 6-4-1). The Vikings have lost two tough games in a row and will be looking to end the regular season on a positive note headed into the playoffs.

Girls' Tennis

Hoggard rolled in round two of the NCHSAA Dual Team Playoffs shutting out Greenville Rose Tuesday. With the win, the Vikings advance to round three next Tuesday as they will host Leesville Road.
Leesville Road was a wild card entry into the playoffs and sprung a big upset in round two as they ended the season of previously undefeated Jack Britt 5-3. With the win, they improved to 12-5 on the year, but will be facing another undefeated team in Hoggard.
