WILMINGTON, N.C. – Adam Collins, who has served as UNC Wilmington’s Director of Men’s Basketball Operations for the last two years, has resigned to become assistant athletic director and women’s basketball coach at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in Odessa, Texas.

A native of Charleston, S.C., Collins joined the staff when Benny Moss took over the program. He was formerly an assistant coach at Henderson State and Indiana, Pa., and also headed up the program at Mercyhurst North East Junior College for two seasons.

“We appreciate everything Adam has done here and wish him the best of luck,” said Moss. “He’s done a great job for the last two years. While we’re sad to see him go, we understand completely. It’s a great move for his career because he gets back into the coaching field and can pursue his interest in athletic administration as well.”

Collins and his family will be moving to the Lone Star State in the coming weeks.

“I’d like to thank Coach Moss, Director of Athletics Kelly Mehrtens and the rest of the athletic staff for a wonderful experience here,” said Collins. “We have really enjoyed our time here, but this is an opportunity to return home, become a head coach again and catch on with a program with great potential.” -Courtesy UNCW Sports Information
