WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNC Wilmington men’s golfer Will Shambley, a rising junior, was named Cleveland Golf Academic All-America by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Shambley, who earned All-Colonial Athletic Association second-team honors, helped lead the Seahawks to a third-place finish in the CAA Championship this spring at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Course in Williamsburg, Va.
The Cary, N.C., native finished second on the team with a 74.7 stroke average, appeared in all 11 tournaments and fashioned three Top-10 finishes, including an individual third-place finish at the CAA Championships.
To be eligible for Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically and compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70-percent of his team’s competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
