The Inaugural Season of the Carolina Mens Baseball League concluded on Sunday, August 3rd with victories by the Break Time Brewers, Club Batter Up and Red Sox. Fall sign ups will be taking place during August and first pitch is set for September 14. Break Time Brewers 9, Old Salts 3. The Break Time Brewers led by leadoff hitter, Brian Adler who stroked three doubles in the game, jumped out to a 5 run lead in the first inning and never looked back. Brewers' SS Dan Southerland blasted a long Home Run off a fastball from his Father. The pitching combo of Frank Amoroso and Doug Comes battled the heat and the Old Salts who had many baserunners but could not break through. Seahawks 6, Club Batter Up 13. Dave Malkmus pitched a complete game victory for Dave Robinson's club. Batter Up sprinted to an early lead with a balanced offense and scored consistently throughout the game. The Seahawks battled hard but could not solve the magic of Malkmus. Port City Mudcats 5, Red Sox 7. The Red Sox won behind the pitching of Pete Gittrich, Bobby Pavlik (win) and Chet Nesley. Red Sox pitcher Chet Nesley earned the save by snuffing a Mudcats' bases-loaded rally in the eighth inning. MENS FALL BASEBALL LEAGUE SIGNUPS The Carolina Mens Baseball League, Inc., a wood bat recreational baseball league, is accepting applications for its Fall Baseball Season to run from September 14th through October with playoffs the first weekend in November.
