People hitting the road Monday night in Holden Beach will have a little more light to guide them. The town will hold its very first Christmas tree lighting at 7 p.m. The pavilion on the Intracoastal Waterway will serve as a home for the tree throughout the holiday season.
Mayor Alan Holden hopes the tree lighting will become a Holden Beach holiday tradition.
“We're excited about it, and we hope it becomes an annual event for everyone to visit and see Holden Beach at the Christmas spirit time,” he said.
The town will present its Toys for Tots donations at tonight's ceremony. If you would like to participate you can bring an unwrapped toy to the lighting.

HOLDEN BEACH
mayor, i notice by this picture that there are only about 6 or 7 gifts under that tree, may i make a suggestion... u need to have the plice chief involve the police dept with family functions, u really need a new chief, someone with ties to the area and someone that is up on current trends and new ways to do things to give U and the beach a new found comfort...u do not need someone retired, thats old stuff... u need soneone agressive and loyal to the citizens and their needs....
