Assaults at Ashley HS Egg Hunt Last Year

To heck with public egg hunts..
Last year, thee was supposed to be a big one at Ashley HS...
On the 8 and under field, when they let the gates open, inner-city parents were pushing inner and outter city children down and away to get an egg..

We watched with our two children (One of which needed forst aid after being shoved by a large woman whio walked out with three baskets of eggs)
Had nothing, and were made fun of by 10-16 year olds (and their adult parents) for (and I quote) being stupid rich little white kids who can't get an egg...

First off, I was unemployeed last year, second, your 400 lbs. uneducated self assaulted a 5 year old to get an egg, and instead of sharing (That' something people who typically celebrate Christmas try to do...) you saw how many eggs you could get.. Including you .. lady with the hair wig turned sideways... A plastic kitchen trash bag? With children everywhere crying... Really? Yeah.. you win person of the year...
Seriously.. There were adults stockpiled with eggs, well over a hundred children crying because they had NONE, and NO ONE with the event would stop these people from being .. inhumane... incompassionate.. ..
So after ruining Egg hunts for our two children, and hundreds of others.. Thanks bu no thanks.. We will pass on a public egg hunt so we can watch out children be assulted by adults...

I'm so Sorry...

It is a sad day when a crowd can not come together & act civilized. The City/County/Church/Organization (whoever) put together these events so families can get together & have something to do for fun without spending a lot of $$$. It is a shame that people no matter their "status in life" would be so rude. Adults have NO business egg hunting. That is a child activity. Parents should only be helping smaller children find eggs or taking pics. NO MORE, NO LESS. As far as the comments linked to this post. I think the point of the post was to remind people that we should be respectful towards one another & that manners do exists & should be used. NOT, what Easter is about, or what the event should be called or Egg Dyes being a hazard to the Cape Fear River. They don't even use REAL eggs for these events. Manners & Respect is a HUMAN RIGHT, it has nothing to do with political views or religious views. Christian or NOT, Muslim, Jewish, Anthiest is irrelevent we should show respect towards ALL HUMANS & teach ALL our children MANNERS. Guest54y6shrd I hope you find an egg hunt this year that your family enjoys & will remove the stigma & create good Egg Hunt memories.

Now you know

Make sure you are not standing between obama supporters and free items. You will get trampled. Now if these slugs would use the same enthusiasm for work....

Noooooo...not an Easter egg hunt!?

I hope the heck they have this all planned and and certified from the EPA, River Watch, River Keepers an such. There is dye on those eggs that could contaminate the grass next to the river that will be washed into the river and turn it funny colors when it rains and kill the fish and turtles, stynmie the algae growth, stain boat bottoms and maybe prevent the Cape Fear River bridge from opening!!! Plus those eggs must come from a certified unfertilized source, otherwise they will be responsible for chikin abortions and possible Salmonella contamination! WHEW!!!

Now...do we really want to take all of these risks for a silly Easter egg hunt?

you are kidding right?

you are kidding right? Really, do you honestly think they are going to use real eggs?

Find "Easter" in that story

These are not EASTER Egg Hunts, they are simply egg hunts. We can't have the government even mentioning a religious holiday.

You see, we don't want children to believe in God, and don't want them to learn about Jesus and the meaning of Easter.

We'd prefer that they believe in some magical rabbit that somehow obtains huge quantities of chicken eggs, boils and colors them, then hides them for little children to find.

Funny

Funny comment, and thankfully true. Would you say that some magical deity who created a planet in six days, rested on the seventh, then required his creations to "worship" him for all eternity despite leaving no proof of his existence that much more plausible? At least the rabbit story is funny :) Plus I don't think anyone has ever been killed in the name of Peter Cottontail :)

When you can explain where that first hydrogen atom came from...

....I'll start paying attention to Atheism. Until you can explain how that proton and electron got together, you simply replace an eternal, everlasting supreme being with an eternal, everlasting bit of physical matter.

BTW, it took Him about 4.5 billion years, not six days.

Prove either theory

I didn't say I was an atheist. Personally I don't really care one way or the other. It makes zero difference in my life and how I chose to live my life. In any event...I just have trouble believing something that has no proof.

That's what faith is all about, WilmMAJ...

...believing what you can't see.

I never thought about it much until that Jupiter moon alignment back in the Nineties. When I looked through that telescope and saw nine moons in perfect alignment, looking like a string of pearls extending out from the planet, I was floored. The overwhelming thought was, "This didn't just happen."

But I'm really looking forward to her expounding on my religious fanaticism. I guess she's never seen any of my posts where I gripe about the "Christian Taliban."

The only thing I'm fanatic about is a good capital gain or a dead left-winger. Either makes me smile.

That, my friend, is hilarious

I love that.

That, my friend, is uninformed

Again, I have to wonder why fanatics are trying to make everything a religious campaign! Actually, The egg is seen as symbolic of the grave and life renewed or resurrected by breaking out of it. The red supposedly symbolizes the blood of Christ redeeming the world and human redemption through the blood shed in the sacrifice of the crucifixion. The egg itself is a symbol of resurrection: while being dormant it contains a new life sealed within it. That is why the egg symbolizes Easter. Sad that I, who is spiritual not religious should know that when you guys who try to call everyone who believes even a little differently heathens do not. Furthermore, it does not further your agenda to suck all the fun and joy out of every situation with your uninformed and sanctimonius rhetoric.

if you can't read the sarcasm...

If you notice, I was having a chuckle at the above mentioned reasons not to have an egg hunt as everyone over reacts about everything.

I, for one, support EASTER EGG HUNTS and am a Christian and have already been exposed to what you say and have known that for a long time.

I guess that anyone who has a chuckle about the obsurdity of having to notify the EPA for an Easter Egg Hunt due to the potential of harming the CF River, should be a bad person.

Thanks, but....

....where does the magical bunny come in?

Don't you see the IRONY in

Don't you see the IRONY in "Commonsense's" posting at all?? Hell, if a six foot rabbit came to my door delivering eggs I'd take all I could, strangle the bastard with his ears, field dress the SOB and serve rabbit stew for the rest of the summer....

I don't think she wants to

She'd rather give some schizophrenic posting in which she pontificates about how eggs symbolize Easter.....but doesn't want the kids to even know what Easter is all about.

I guess that's why we must divorce the word "Easter" from these egg hunts. They represent the crucifixion and resurrection, but we must deny the relationship that she talks about.

Perhaps SHE is that magical rabbit, protecting her job....?

I just hope she's around at year-end so that she can explain the deep significance of a Santa Claus that exists without any tie-in to Christmas.

not really...

Irony is the use of words to convey a meaning that is the opposite of its literal meaning so no I wouldn't say commonsenses comment was particularly ironic. It was a half hearted unfunny immitation of a bit I've heard many stand up comedians make about the Easter bunny and eggs, without common's fanatic religious slant.

Fanatic religious slant?

Please take the time to read ALL my posts on all topics and then tell me how fantically religious I am.

Acknowledging the existance of God or implying that trying to secularize religious holidays is idiotic hardly constitutes fanaticism....

...but when are you going to explain the significance of the magical bunny? I knew about the eggs from being educated in Catholic schools. Where does the bunny come in?

The Rabbit also represents rebirth

The rabbit also represents rebirth and renewel... If I'm not mistaken rabbits are able to concieve a litter even while carrying another and because of this became a symbol for rebirth, renewal of life. In Egypt, the rabbit represented new life in spring, and later early Christians interpreted that meaning to include the ressurection of Christ. The Easter bunny also has to do with its pre-Christian origin. The hare were very fertile animals and gave birth to many offsprings in spring. Therefore , the bunny served as a symbol of new life during the Spring season.

Thank God for Google, huh?

But we don't have an Easter Bunny because of ancient Egyptian beliefs. You conveniently left out this part: "The bunny was first used as a symbol of Easter in 16th century Germany, where it was first mentioned in German writings."

So the Easter Bunny is a rather recent invention of some Euro-loon, just as Santa Claus is.

Anyway, the day is supposed to be about EASTER, the crucifixion, the resurrection, the basic cornerstone of Christianity....not bunnies or eggs. You KNOW that. Even if you're non-spritual, you know that. I'm not Jewish, but I know what Chanukah is all about. If they're going to have an egg hunt, the LEAST they can do is call it an EASTER egg hunt!

Why is it only Christian holy days that get secularized with fantastic people and creatures, anyway?

Where is the Yom Kippur Yak? The Ramadan Rat?

in the holes in the wall

The Ramadan Rats will all be scampering around looking for food.
