Wrightsville Beach prepares coastal warning flags

The Wrightsville Beach Coast Guard is prepared for hurricane season. To help get the message out, in the event of a storm, the coast guard has installed a flag warning system. Flags will fly at the station to signal dangerous weather. A single red triangle flag indicates a small craft advisory. Two red flags mean gale force winds are blowing from 34 to 47 miles per hour and all boats need to watch out. In storm force winds, 48 to 63 miles per hour, a single red and black flag will fly. Two of those flags mean hurricane force winds are blowing in excess of 63 miles an hour.
