Can you name at least five influential people who shaped our country? Well, some students at Codington Elementary School can name three times that amount. For the past nine weeks, Codington's first graders have been learning about famous Americans who helped shape our country. On Monday, students hosted their annual American’s parade. The parade was held inside because of the rain, but it didn't stop the celebration. There were some famous names like Alexander Graham Bell, and even some people not as notable like Snowflake Bentley. "Snowflake Bentley is a person who really likes snow flakes. He was the first person to take a picture of a snowflake,” said first grade student Carter Walters. More famous faces were Sally Ride, Amelia Earhart and Michelle Obama. "They spent a lot of time researching their person. They created circle maps about their person. They wrote reports about them and painted portraits of them and then the finale was to get to dress up as them,” said Codington teacher Diane Fowler.
