I really wish people and parents would do their homework on ADHD. For one thing there is no medical evidence or proof it actually exists. For any parent to make the choice to medicate their child with a class 2 narcotic to me is irresponsible and downright dangerous. There were over 186 deaths from 1990 to 2000 alone. Then there are the numerous side effects related to the use of these drugs in children not to mention in adults. Questions used to diagnose like does your child fidget, are they unattentive etc? I would like to know what child isn't! I am currently having to deal with a situation with a couple where the mother cannot handle her son and is on welfare, his father is disabled and she wants more money. Problem solved. Have the boy diagnosed with ADHD and I will be able to get SSDI off of him. I have the boy 75% of the time and he shows no abberrent behavior or being out of control. But when the mother has him, a mother who abandoned her other two children she cannot control him. She has gone to 2 different doctors to get medication. After speaking with the child for 5 minutes they diagnose him with ADHD, prescibing him with cocaine and methanphetimines along with high blood pressure medication to bring em down. His father refuses to give him this medication and has thus far been able to stop her. But now we fear she will put it into his food behind our and the childs back who also refuses to take it. ADHD is a fraud perpetrated by the drug companies. Give me proof it exists and I'll listen. There are many other true medical reasons for behaviors that are impulsive,etc. The reason she gives to the doctors is he is so angry and she needs to control it. So I asked him in front of her "Jr. why are you angry?" and he said to her "Because you keep taking me to the doctors and there's nothing wrong with me. I don't like you and I want to be with my dad. The only reason you want me is for money. You get welfare, food stamps and section 8 housing. What else do you want? leave me alone. You leave me with Dad all the time anyway". Asking sure beats stuffing him full of narcotics don't you think? But like I said mothers are given a monetary incentive to put their children on Adderral, Ridelin,and a host of other narcotics. It's called SSDI; brings you in about a grand a month and you don't have to put up with the child because they are so doped up all the time. Screw their future. They will be labeled with this disorder for the rest of their lives. No military oppotunities, college, or future law enforcement. Thanks mom!!!! By the way Jr. is a A/B student. He won't be for long!! I will be writing the Judge on this one!I've had enough. Education, not medication.
