Football Injuries

The school system should get ready for a lawsuit and this coach and trainer should be held negligent if this kid sustained a concussion during practice and they did not DEMAND a clean bill of health from a QUALIFIED PHYSICIAN before he stepped back on that field. If he was complaining of migraines for weeks, It should have been an indication that he was not fit to play. My children play school sports and I watch them carefully for injuries. If my kid was still complaining of pain even days afterward, I would see that he would not participate again until see was cleared by a DOCTOR. That is my responsibility as a parent, I make the final call. I know that the trainers are qualified and educated but they do not preform CAT Scans or MRI's and a teenager that is determined to be a part of a team cannot rationalize the danger. Concussions are not rare in football and the coaches and trainers should be able to recognize the signs. This is a prime example of when the player's needs has to be put before the needs of the team. I would be suprised if the school system's liability insurance carrier doesn't require a clean bill of helath from a physician or ER and if they don't, the school system should. One simple step that could help to prevent this kind of tragedy from happening. This type of complaceny is unacceptable.
