READ MORE:

A federal committee is meeting to decide whether to seek the death penalty against a man accused of killing UNC student body president Eve Carson. The Attorney General's review committee was discussing the case today. Demario Atwater and Laurence Lovette have been charged with killing Carson. Orange County District Attorney Jim Woodall has said he will seek the death penalty against Atwater, but juries in that county tend to avoid giving death sentences. Lovette can not be sentenced to death because the crime was committed before he turned 18.
