PENDER COUNTY -- He's been charged with 30 DWIs in 20 years. Yet, each time he's been able to get another license.
It's an interesting story. Dickinson says he had five or six licenses in different people's names, and you may be surprised how he got them.
John Dickinson appeared in court Tuesday in Burgaw and pleaded guilty to a DWI charge.
He still has to face three other DWI charges he has in New Hanover County.
Dickinson says after being arrested for drunken driving and having his license taken away in the past, he was always able to get another license in a different name.
Despite being a repeat offender Dickinson says he is sorry for what he's done.
"I didn't bring pain to people on the highway, I brought pain to my children and grandchildren," Dickinson said.
Dickinson is also charged with two counts of identity theft for getting illegal licenses.
