Yes, they can be somewhat accurate at 50 yards. That is, if the target is standing still and not running. You are trying to justify the use of a close range weapon at longer ranges. Slugs are reasonably accurate under certain conditions, but will never replace a rifle. No offense, but if you were a cop, you would know what I mean.
