Charlotte's May done for season with knee pain

Story body

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Charlotte Bobcats forward Sean May says he's done for the season because of ongoing pain in his right knee.

May has missed 27 of the past 30 games with soreness and swelling in his right knee, which twice required arthroscopic surgery last season to remove torn cartilage.

While the former UNC star doesn't anticipate further surgery, he doubts it's possible to return for any of the Bobcats' remaining 10 games.

May told The Charlotte Observer that he tried to come back, but that it hurt him to try to play in the three games he entered this month. He says he want to lose 10 pounds this summer so he can report to training camp at 255 pounds.

May says he doesn't think the injury was caused by the weight, but he thinks losing the weight would help.
