You're talking about niche market items that still have competing American manufacturers. Most Americans are buying neither guitars or motorcycles.
All Americans, however, are buying clothing, televisions, coffee makers and microwave ovens. That's what I mean by "light manufacturing;" widely purchased items all but devoid of American manufacturers.
