Some history buffs dusted off their treasures Sunday. In recognition of Native American Heritage Month, Cape Fear Community College hosted an artifact workshop.
People from the community brought in anything from arrowheads to pottery they think may be true Native American artifacts. People left with a little history lesson and the origin of where their artifact is from.
Geology instructor, Phillip Garwood, said, "We are trying to educate people on retaining the knowledge, retaining interest of who came before us. There have been tribal peoples here for at least twelve thousand years."
Some pieces dated back thousands of years.
