The city of Wilmington has started to receive some applications for its soon-to-be vacant city council seat. So far, three men have applied for Jason Thompson's spot. Thompson was elected to the New Hanover County Commission and plans to resign from city council at the end of the month. Kevin O’Grady is president of Residents of Old Wilmington, and said he has spent years representing folks in downtown and would bring energy to city council. Jeff Hovis runs a formal wear business and said issues important to him are quality employment and infrastructure. Dana Page is a marketing and sales COO who said he can bring financial leadership to the council. Anyone interested in applying has until Monday and should apply with the city clerk's office.
