will the funding come from?
Joblessness is increasing. Foreclosures continue. The economy is now projected to be in the commode through 2009 and possibly into 2010.
Does Mr. Bowles feel the incoming Democratic administration in Washington has some magic wand to wave?
Note the $168 million is not proposed for new facility construction. It goes for salaries, public safety, and student aid.
I am curious. Chancellors cut individual campus budgets by 4%.
Mr. Bowles and the Board approve a Three Billion Dollar budget with a $168,000,000 increase.
Isn't there a divergence of goals here?
Every other business and government agency proposes tight budgets with minimal salary increases.
But not the University system.
At a time when everyone else is struggling to make ends meet, is a budget which will likely lead to a tuition increase really going to work? Could this not cause some currently enrolled students to drop out?
