If the cold weather isn't doing it, then all the events going on this weekend are sure to put you in the holiday spirit. The weekend gets off to an early start. Thursday night, it's the Banana Republic Fourth Annual Holiday Charity Fashion Show. A $10 donation at the door will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. It starts at 9:00 p.m. at City Tavern in Mayfaire. While you're in the holiday spirit, get your holiday shopping started or finished. The Junior League's 12th Annual Holiday Market is at the Cape Fear Community College Schwartz Center this weekend. Tickets are $7. The hours are from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Friday and from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. And what says holidays more than the Nutcracker? The Wilmington Ballet will perform the holiday classic at Thalian Hall this weekend. Performances on Friday and Saturday are at 7:00 p.m. There is also a performance Sunday at 3:00. Tickets are $18 for general admission or $25 for reserved seating. Tickets are available at the Thalian Hall Box Office. ‘Tis the season for an oyster roast. The Greater Wilmington Chamber of Commerce is holding its Coasta Roast Oyster Roast on Friday from 5:00 until 8:00. It will be behind the Chamber of Commerce. For $75, you get all you can eat oysters, shrimp and full bar. To reserve a spot, call 762-2611 ext. 202 On Saturday, it's Aquababies Weekend. The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher is showing off its babies. You'll be able to see several babies, like this one month old loggerhead and Atlantic guitarfish. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, $6 for kids ages 6 to 17, and anyone younger is free. Also Saturday, if you or someone you know is an art lover, Art for the Masses is this weekend. You get to buy directly from local artists. There will be pottery, paintings, jewelry, photography and much more on display. Shop from 10-:00a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Hanover Center behind Stein Mart. The cost is a $3 donation. Kids of all ages will enjoy a trip to the Wilmington Railroad Museum this weekend. It's the 2008 model railroad show and sale. Saturday hours are 10:00a.m. to 5:00p.m., and 10:00a.m. to 4:00p.m. on Sunday. There will able be a children's area and door prizes.
