WILMINGTON -- New Hanover County District Attorney Ben David plans to meet with SBI agents Monday regarding Thursday night's officer-involved shooting. Twenty-three-year-old Philippe McIver was shot and killed. Wilmington Police Chief Ralph Evangelous says two officers approached McIver as he walked half-naked on Princess Place Drive. During a struggle McIver allegedly grabbed an officer's gun and fired. A second officer shot McIver. Evangelous says it's not yet clear if that bullet shot by the officer killed McIver. DA David is asking for an accelerated investigation into the shooting.
