Some are cutting back costs with their holiday decorations

READ MORE: Some are cutting back costs with their holiday decorations
Gifts, trees, decorations galore; looking at the rooms of some local houses you would think it was already Christmas morning. Nioka Jewett said, "I just felt the holiday spirit early. Because there's nothing like decorating your house, Christmas trees, lights and the whole nine yards for Christmas. It's the best part of the year." Nioka just bought her Christmas tree. She said, "This year I paid almost $40 for it when last year I paid around $30." Another additional cost is holiday lights. Come December, Progress Energy rates are going up 10 percent. But that cost won't keep her tree from sparkling. "I'm not going to light it as much, but I will light it like every night. Only during specific times and I'll turn it off during specific times," Jewett added. For Marie Inman, one tree is not enough. “I normally put up around 32 Christmas trees, but this year I’m cutting back due to the economy. I'm going to do around 20 to 23 this year,” she said. And for the woman who even has “ho-ho-ho” toilet paper, cutting back her number of trees will be the only change in her holiday décor. "You know this is for one month. We can bite the bullet and cut areas in other places if we have to. I have cut down to some 4 foot trees instead of 8 foot trees but for the most part I'm going to enjoy Christmas no matter what,” said Inman. Just in case you were wondering, Marie Inman is not done decorating her home. Her energy bill last December was about $270.
