Shop 'Til You Drop

Wilmington resident Dale Brodeur says, "I feel like I'm in New York City." If you're looking for peace on earth while shopping for holiday gifts, the Saturday before Christmas is not the time to go. It's been dubbed the busiest shopping day of the year, above Black Friday. That seemed to be the case at Mayfaire Town Center. "A lot of people in the stores, the clerks kind of seemed stressed out," says shopper Lauren Johnson. Rose Hill Residents Megan Rhodes and Jerron Rivenbark say, "There have been a lot of people shopping out at Mayfaire today, a lot more than have been other days." Jerron says, "We are from a really small town, and we aren't used to a lot of people." But that's what you'd see. Lost of people shopping. And even more coveted than a bargain, was a good parking spot. Intersections at Mayfaire looked like your typical traffic jam. Brodeur says, "We just had to park about a quarter of a mile away." Shoppers told me dealing with parking on a busy shopping day takes patience. That's if you want to park near all the stores. Rivenbark says, "That person that got trampled in New York, I don't want that to happen to me so I just park far away." If your list still isn't complete, and need to hit the stores, it may be somewhat of a battlefield. The weapons? shopping bags.
