Four downtown businesses are in the spirit of giving this holiday season. Downtown Wilmington's Finkelstein's, City Buddha, Edge of Urge, and Dog Gone Crazy participated in this weekend's charity giving event. Items like old dog leashes, bleach, and trash bags were donated to Wilmington's Domestic Violence Shelter and Services and the Pender County Humane Society. Donators were granted discounts at the stores. Business owners joined Wilmington Mayor Bill Saffo at Slice of Life Pizza to thank the community. "It's the spirit of giving and giving back to the community and these folks have done such a tremendous job bringing this together. They've indicated to me that they'd like to do it again, maybe possibly several times of the year", said Mayor Saffo. Mayor Saffo drew the winning name, Jenn Solomon. She'll be rewarded with reservations at the Wilmigntonian, dinner at Caffe Phoenix, and a gift basket valued at $500.00.
